It also makes cockpit cooling ducts and, on the defense side, has "been supporting the EA-18 program a lot, which is the electronic-warfare version of the F-18."

Two things he said matter for the bigger picture. First, the boom is pulling shops like his up the value chain: with "how fast some of the drone and space companies are going, they're sending partial documents and wanting companies to support them on the engineering side too," not just cut to a finished print. Second, and echoing GE's whole rationale, the binding constraint in this industry is capacity: "capacity has been a huge issue for other companies," and when a program hits trouble, "that's when we're going to highlight ourselves" by actually having the machines and the availability to deliver.
