Why this team

Most AI products for finance are built by one half of the problem. Either people who understand the models but have never had to defend a number in an investment committee, or people who know the desk but are buying their AI off the shelf.

Matterfact is built by both. The founding team has traded systematically, covered equities as analysts, and built Google Search, Google Gemini, and Apple's Siri. That combination is why the product does the analyst's job correctly rather than approximately.

Founders

Ashutosh Agarwal, CEO and Co-founder

Ashutosh has lived both sides of the desk. He traded as a quant at WorldQuant, the systematic arm of Millennium, and covered equities as an analyst at Nomura, then went to Google to engineer Search, the largest information-retrieval system ever built. Matterfact is the product he wished he had at 6am before a print: the judgment of a great analyst with the recall of a search engine.

Vishal Verma, CTO and Co-founder

Vishal builds frontier AI for a living. He co-authored a core paper behind Google Gemini, led NLP for Apple's Siri, and is a CS PhD candidate at UNC and an IIT Bombay alum. He turns the messiest financial language, from hedged guidance to off-script podcast asides to footnoted filings, into structured answers an analyst can cite and trust.

The team

Karthik Tiruvarur, Chief Operating Officer

Karthik brings nearly two decades of equity investing experience to Matterfact. He began his career structuring derivatives at Lehman Brothers before moving into equity investing at International Finance Corporation. He has invested in internet-scale businesses, served on boards, and built relationships with capital allocators around the world. Most recently, he built an India public equities strategy at a San Francisco-based crossover hedge fund. At Matterfact, he returns to his roots as a computer science graduate, combining his technical training, investment judgment, and global network across alternative assets to help investors generate shareholder value.

Mark Coriaty, Chief Revenue Officer

A repeat go-to-market leader in AI and fintech SaaS, Mark has spent 20+ years selling into hedge funds. He scaled Sentieo from a startup to its AlphaSense exit and ran global GTM at Clarity AI.

Elizabeth Paulos, Head of Business Development

Elizabeth led customer success at Bloomberg and owned buy-side renewals at Canalyst and Sentieo / AlphaSense. She makes sure Matterfact earns its place in an analyst's daily workflow, not just a trial.

Matthew Childers, Founding Engineer
